How to slip through
Stay unhit for 60 seconds. There is no fire button, so there is only one thing to do, and your skill comes from choosing where to go.
Watch the gap, not the bullets
New players chase incoming bullets with their eyes, and then the hands are always late. A pattern can look packed, but there is always a gap. Find it first and your hands only have to follow.
We check that a path exists from start to finish before a stage ships, so there is no impossible spot. If you cannot see it, you have not found it yet.
Three patterns and how to handle each
- Rain. Straight lines coming down. The space between lines is the gap, so pick one lane and stay in it and you never get hit. Hopping around is what gets you killed.
- Fan. Bullets spread from one point. The middle is dense and the edges are thin, so slide out past the edge of the spread. Holding the middle only gets tighter.
- Sweep. Bullets drift sideways. If you stand still you get swept, so move with the flow and match its speed. Going against it is a head-on hit.
Staying low works better
Your ship sits near the bottom. Bullets come from above, and the later you meet them, the more spread out they are, so the gaps get wider. Moving up to meet them means taking the tight clumps head-on.
It is a memory game
There is no RNG, so everyone gets the same bullets in the same places on the same day. Memory beats reflex here. When you get hit it tells you the second and the pattern, so you can prepare for that spot next run.
Retries are unlimited. Dying is how you learn the spot, not a penalty.
Common ways to die
- Getting pinned to the edge. Against a wall you only have one way to dodge, and the next pattern shuts it.
- Big movements. The ship is small, so a small nudge clears a bullet. Big moves run you into the next one.
- Freezing in a safe spot. Rain cannot hit you there, but you have to move before the next pattern arrives.
One stage a day, the same for everyone
The pattern is built from the date. Everyone who plays on the same day gets the same one, so you can compare how many seconds you lasted. Everything runs in your browser and there is no sign-up.
Numbers worth knowing
Play by feel and you die in the same spot every time. The values that build a stage are fixed, and once you know them your hands pick it up.
- A run is 60 seconds. Make it to the end and the day is a clear. It is cut short on purpose. Getting past 20 seconds on your first tries is already good.
- The hitbox is smaller than it looks. Your ship is 1.8% of the screen width and a bullet is 1.2%. Some near misses really are misses. Dodging wide out of fear is more dangerous.
- Each pattern has its own rhythm. Rain comes every 0.7 seconds, Fan every 0.9 and Sweep every 0.55. Sweep is the fastest.
- Sweep comes in pairs. Dodge the first shot and a second one follows 0.26 seconds later in the same place. Stop right after dodging and the second one gets you. Keep flowing once more.
FAQ
- Where is the fire button? There is none. You slip through, you do not shoot. The whole game is finding the empty space.
- How many retries do I get? Unlimited. Getting hit ends a run, and if that were a penalty you would lose the chance to memorize. So retries are unlimited and we do not count day streaks.
- Can I replay yesterday's stage? Yes. The past stages list opens the last 14 days.
- Is my score uploaded? Play and hit checks happen in your browser, with no sign-up. When a run ends you can send it to the shared leaderboard (ranks.gwirae.com), and without logging in it appears anonymously.
